if anyone has one lying around or not in use, with or w/out the temp control, i'd be happy to take it.. the one im using went out a couple of months ago.. the tank has been doing find w/ just the computer fans.. but the past couple of warm days got me a little worried when the temp rose to 80...

Thanks mucho,
Larry

Not sure what kind of PS an ice probe chiller requires but I have a Aqua Logic / CustomSeaLife Temperature Controller we can talk about... PM me if interested.

I am not sure about the plugs on the chiller, but the power supply seem like a pretty common one. It's a 12V 60watt DC power supply. You should be able to pick one of those up easily. You might also want to check with HSC Electronic (located somewhere in N. Sac). They tend to carry a bunch of odd stuff and power supplies. The parts aren't new, but who cares. Then you should be able to splice the cable with you old one and get it working again.

hey minh i had a question on the power supply. I was in walmart today and dropped by thier automotive section and saw a couple of car battery chargers, there was one about 25 bucks, black n decker was the brand i think... dont know if that would work. Or if im looking at the wrong thing in the first place.
Thanks,
Larry

Larry -

You need to look at both the voltages and the amps (or watts). I think the AC you are looking for is a 12V 5amp (or 60 watt) power supply. I don't know what the output of those car charges are. I would check with HSC Electonics. They usually have a bunch of different power supply for cheap.

here's whats on the powersupply

minh, i checked the ice probe itself, and it says it only uses 4.5amps, so i dont know if that has any coralation w/ the 60 vs. 63 watts

Here are the exact same powersupply - but different connector. Just do some splicing and you are done. I did a google search of the model number and found that it's the powersupply used for the Coleman frig. Ebay search turned up the following:

BTW - if you're really good, you can open up the powersupply and cut the cable inside the powersupply. Then solder the new wire in, and no one will ever know. :D Post me some pictures of the connector piece.

Have fun!

Great find Minh!

well i already hacked off the conector piece ,and have the ice probe temporarily running off of a powersupply for an old monitor i had... which puts out 4.3 amps... the powersupply is a little warm to the touch, so i plugged it into the timer to only turn on when the halide is on. i'll deffinitely look into getting one of the coleman ones
