Wtb: Ps3

I thought I saw one out at work for sale... I will check and let you know tomorrow. Why PS3 and not 360? Just wondering

I mainly want just for it's blue ray functionality. I have looked at a lot of players and the PS3 is basically the best deal. If I were just buying it for the gaming portion I would definitely go with the 360.

I have to agree with him Dave. if you want it for the blue ray, then just buy the blue ray alone. If you want the game system then get the 360 and get it with the netflix stream. If you can get a PS3 used that works for a good deal, then go for it though if that is what you want. And if you get a 360, if you get one used make sure it can still get online to play. Microsoft doesn't ban the player if they break the rules, they ban the machine from ever playing on line again.

I don't really agree and here is why. My requirements for the player as as follows:

1. Must have built in Wi-Fi
2. Must support Netflix streaming
3. Must be very close to $200

Now, the only player that meets these criteria is the Samsung 3600. However, if you take the time to read the reviews on CNET and Amazon you will find that Samsung Blue-Ray players are total junk. People are having issues with them breaking the day they are purchased and Samsung support seems dismal. Therefore, that leaves very few options. I believe the Panasonic players probably give you the best picture and audio quazlity but none of them support Netflix streaming. Sony and LG do have any players with built-in Wi-Fi yet. There are very few players that meet my criteria, therefore, I started looking at the PS3. Reviews are excellent on the console and a used one would only run me around $200 with the remote.

Walmart carries the Sony S560 which is Wifi, w/ Netflix. Cost is about $260.
I bought a Dlink bridge, so I can drop to the S460 which does not support Wifi.

I have a PS3 that I use for mostly blu-ray...I bought the remote thinking that was the only way to control it....actually the game controller works better than the remote and is wireless as well. I have had no problems with it at all, but it does get hot quick so make sure it is in a well vented area. I bought mine at Walmart as well to get their replacement plan, but all stores now offer some sort of warranty on them, so no biggie where you really get it. I also have the samsung 3600 on my other tv and it works great. It fires up right away, ready to use faster than my PS3. It came with the wireless adapter and HDMI cable already...I just haven't figured out the wirelss aspect yet, but that's my problem, not the players.

Thank you for your input lemec. Originally I was planning on getting the Samsung 3600 but after reading these reviews (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BD-P3...dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1) I decided not to. How long have you had the player for? Have you had any problems with it at all?

I've had the 3600 since the summer...It has yet to have any problems with freeze up or such...I don't really use the netflix or any flash cards on the thing, just a standard blu-ray player. I also do not have any theater sound systems hooked up to it either. I'm about to watch a blu-ray on it right now...I'll let you know if there are any problems....

I hooked up the S460 to my wireless bridge today and watched a couple of movies with it already. Several other features on it also.

Gotta say this thing is pretty cool so far. Yep I’m posting with the kids new ps3. Man I have to get a keyboard for this thing

You know that the $299 one, doesn't play ps2 games. My buddy works at gamestop and said that alot of them won't play Blu-ray after about 3 months. You can get a really nice Samsung Blu-Ray at Wal-mart for $188 now. If you want a remote for the ps3 its like another $30 i believe

I have had a ps3 since they can out I also have 2 kids that leave it running all day I have never had a problem with the blu ray player and I use this as my main dvd player in the living room. As for the controller whats the point in buying the dvd remote? You can use the remote that came with it just fine no need for the extra expense.
