from what distance was that taken? i ask, because it have been considering this lens for awhile....but wonder about it's actual utility....it is somewhat spendy...

I think the major problem of this lens
Is the ability to focus only on an object that is really close to the lens
It's probably the best macro lens on the market today
But you can only focus on object about 5 or 6 cm from the lens.
 
its a very cool lens but i'm not sure a 5x lens is the best choice for overall aquarium photography. I think i'd take the 100mm canon over the 5x for that application.

excellent picture nonetheless. :)
 
i have the 100mm canon, the f2.8 macro lens, and a 250D lens to go with it....it is nice....very nice. unfortunately i have a bowfront and the curve of the glass makes it hard to focus....
