Yellow Clown Goby or Neon Blue Goby?

Hello everyone,

I am planning a fish stocking list for my 29 gallon leather tank that is bare bottom and has a large skimmer and lots of flow.

Livestock:

Red Firefish
Cardinal
Royal Gramma
5 hermits
1 turbo snail
4 astrae snails
1 Cleaner Shrimp

I am looking to add one of the two fish listed in the title. I have never owned either of those before so I am taking suggestions.

Red firefish NEEDS a sand bed of considerable depth.

I can see your hermits having a blast trying to walk around on the glass lol.

Why? They are not a burrowing species, but rather look for naturally occurring dens in rockwork. Thousands of people have had great success with them in bare bottom tanks. Previously he was housed in another BB tank of mine for 2.5 years.

I have firefish in my bare bottom tank with no problem.

As for your original question. Both fish are good additions to the tank. They inhabit different areas of the water column. Both fish are far from aggressive and make good community fish. I think given the small size of the fish, rather than make a choice you could safely add both :)
