Yellow Fiji Leather Wilted : /

Hey guys,
I just purchased a good sized leather about a week ago. Initially I had him off to the side of the tank where he'd get less light. I have a 150g tank with about 400# live rock, es2 skimmer, about a 10g fuge, and a cebu sun hamilton fixture.

He wilted pretty bad, still had some polyp extension, but wilted all the same. I moved him more to the center of the tank. There he is getting more flow and more light. I cut the lights to about 3 hours, from 5. After 3 days, he is still wilted.

Everything else in the tank is doing great. SPS, LPS, Zoas, other leathers, and mushrooms..everything is growing great. Just worried about this guy, I was very happy to have some yellow in the tank....

He still has some polyp extension, just laying over on his side, in the sand.

this seems normal, mine did the same for a week after i stopped messing with it lol. yellow leathers seem to do best in med/high light and a good amount of flow. oh and leave it alone for a while and see how it does

Thanks! Yeah it's easy to get caught up in the instant gratification thing..I keep wanting to move it all over the tank until I see it happier..I figure I did pretty good only moving it twice.

Should I put it where I eventually want it and acclimate lighting accordingly or go ahead and get it acclimated on the sandbed and move it up?

If it was my choice I would place it where I want from the getgo but every tank is different and requires different things. If you can acclimate it to the spot you want now do it, if not slowly move it into the spot but keep in mind most leathers hate being touched/moved and will act on that accordingly.

I'm having the worst problem with one right now. I have asked a million questions here, but nothing is helping. Wilted for over 7 months now.

Can you post any pictures? Not only close up of your figi leather but possibly a FTS or at least the surrounding area of the figi showing neighbors? The more you touch it the more ****ed off it will be, whats the longest you've went without moving it?

Are you running carbon? Leathers are only peaceful in the fact they do not have stinging tentacles but they still do chemical warfare if they think something is getting too close. It may be another leather somewhere else in the tank that is releasing its chemicals and going in the direction of the figi leather by powerhead/wavemaker.

Edit:
mine picks everything.

Just noticed this, if you still have the coral beauty it could be not coming out due to the angel eating the polyps when it tries to extend so it does not want to extend.

Fiji Yellows are by far one of the hardest leathers to keep(or keep happy)But when they are happy their beautiful. Live Aquaria told me they get many calls about Fiji Yellows DOA.
