what do most people feed their yellow tangs to get them nice fat and juicy.....The one i got is normal but has those pinched stomachs...I looked at paradise and exotic and exotic was the only one that had a fairly well looking tang.....so i got it....

right now its picking at the sea grass turf in my tank...

I heard nori does good but that good....
any ideas?

Tangs are primarily herbivores. They need algae in their diet to thrive.

Nori, nori and more nori.

I've had a healthy looking yellow tang for a while now...i feed the nori on a clip 2-3 times a week.

you got a fuge raymond? u might want to try growing some algae to give the tang a nutritious treat :) w/ a tank as big as yours you won't have problems finding nutrients to keep up the macro algae growth. :D

I feed both Macro algae from my fuge and nori in reasonable portions every day on a feeding clip for both my Hippo Tang and Yellow Tang - and they both love it. Although the yellow tang will eat some flake food, I believe that is simply must have at least the nori, or it will starve (at least in my tank, and don't ask how I know that).

our Y tang would graze the rocks, eat vitamin enriched nori, & vitamin enriched brine. . .

he was nice and plump! He would even swim in circles once he saw us head toward the drawer where we kept the nori. we're assuming this meant that he was happy or very hungry! :D

In the asian food section of the supermarket I get roasted seaweed sushi nori which is green, and musubi nori which is brown. I feed my yellow tang a 1 inch wide strip of each on a clip every other day. He also grazes the live rock, eats the food that other fish eat & about once a week I grab some ulva out of the fuge. I used to offer him raw or lightly steamed spinach on occasion, but he was never interested in the spinach.

Steamed Spinach??

Any idea what's the different between Formula 1 and 2??. I use 1 flake and my tangs/Angels love them. My tangs/Angels don't eat Chaeto :( ..

I've just started a refugium and am about ready to harvest some of the chaeto. I have a hippo tang. Do anybody else's tangs eat chaeto, or is it more of an individual taste thing?
