I appreciate everyone's advice on a skimmer, I can't do external, my stand is sooo cramped. I was thinking of trying something else out and need your thoughts. Right now my tank drains into one compartment with a filter sock and my skimmer, then i have the baffles, my somewhat refugium, and then to my pump and phos-reactor. Since my footprint where current skimmer is is so small (6x9) would be be a decent idea to put skimmer in fuge area where there is more room and just move some live rock to where the skimmer was?

How much area would you have if you moved it? Are you currently growing macro algae in that area. Growing macro is as important as the skimmer IMO. The tunze that was posted may be a good one and would fit with room to spare, but i have never heard anything about them before. Can you set one up external? Most of the insump models can be used outside the sump too i believe, although i wouldn't do that with a cheap one if it were me.
