Your top off/dosing method

I dose kalk/RO water via a peristaltic pump. The flow rate is adjusted to match the rate of evaporation. However its also connected to a float switch to prevent overfilling.

How do you have it set up? I want to dose kalk but do not want to estimate the exact evaporation rate like I do now. What I would like is a dosing system that lets me dose kalk based on need and replace water based on actual evaporation.

I have an aqualifter feeding my kalk reactor on a timer. It goes on at night. I can have it add kalk water anytime I want. I have my top off water controlled with a JBJ ATO unit. My ATO draws water from a 35gal barrel next to the tank into the sump. My aqualifter draws water from the same barrel and into the kalk rector. The output from the kalk reactor is in my DT. It drips in the return flow.

How do you drip - what do you use? Do you use a valve?

Top Off System with Kalk Reactor

Top Off System with Kalk Reactor

I have a gravity feed GEO Kalk Reactor tied to an ATO with a solenoid controlled by float switches. The GEO reactor stirs on a timer and the entire system is fully automated, and is only activated by gradual drops in the water level by evaporation. The entire system is fed by a 33G Brute trash can holding RO/DI water that is filled via a float switch.

I mix a couple of tablespoons of Mrs. Wages(sp?) pickling lime in a gallon of cool top off water (CaOH2 dissolves better in cool water), shake it up and dump it into the sump about once a week.
