Yuma Issues

Recently picked up this rock with several Yumas on it. Since I dipped them they are not doing well. They have been in my tank for about a week now. Bought some other frags a few days after these guys and those are all out and doing well. Here are recent water parameters:
Salinity 1.25
Ph 8.1
No detectable ammonia
Nitrate .05 ppm
Calcium 420
Alkalinity 8.4 dkh
Phosphate .03 ppm

Do you know how long they were at the store for? After having a similar experience in which I snagged up a rainbow Yuma because of the price only a day after it came in and had an infection that ultimately killed it and half of my exiting yumas. I ask because now whenever I see them in the store I check in on them for two weeks or more to see if they start to melt down either from shipping stress or illness, so if you got yours newly shipped they may not have been showing signs of demise yet. I hope though that this is just a lingering reaction from the dip that will clear up sooner than later.

@garygonzales I dip all corals I buy every time in Bayer. It's pretty amazing the critters both good and bad that are hiding out in frags and especially a small rock like this one.

@eastlake not sure how long they were there to be honest. I think they were not fresh off the boat though as I asked how often they get corals and I was told about once a month. I have a small Yuma from a different store that is doing well as are my ricordea so just trying to figure this out.

I have about 100 Yuma in my tank and they were straight from Vietnam. They have been with me a few months and are really happy. I started them in really low light and flow, and after quarantine moved them to my tank in lower light areas and slowly increased light for a couple months. I feed them about 2x/week with coral frenzy pellets or frozen mysis. A couple broke apart (melted) but I saved the pieces and grew them out into new Yumas in my frag tank. It took about a month+ for the pieces to grow into new Yumas. I think the key for me was starting in fairly low light and flow and feeding them.

do mushroom corals tolerate bayer? as an anemone aren't they closer related to inverts and bayer kills inverts

I bayer dip most everything including yumas and other mushrooms. They do fine with it. If they don't survive a dip they probably would not make it anyway. The only thing I didn't dip are my mini maxi anemone and bubble tip anemones.

In my own opinion, Yuma are more finicky than Florida Ricordea. I kind of stick to Florida Ricordea now. Just put them in a low flow area for now and watch them. I have Yuma in my tank and they are fine and well but I have had several get sick and die and wipe out whole colonies of Yuma. To me it is not worth the money. The only Yuma I find hardy are the orange ones. Good luck!:thumbsup:
