Yumas hardiness compared To Florida Rics

I've kept lots of Florida Rics in the past and have recently started noticing some of the different colors of Yumas.Are Yumas as hardy as Florida Rics and do they require more light?

I'd say they are about the same but acclimation is the key.. If they are aquacultered they usually do fine but make sure you get a good healthy one with a prominent mouth that isnt gaping... light acclimate it in your tank...

The colors on yumas are a little washed out under PCs but really pop with higher lighting.. i keep mine under t5s at the bottom of the tank and some in the middle

There are some we are chalking up to "wild caught" ones that can't handle the changes in water\temp\light and will dissolve without careful transport and acclimation

I am going to have to say from my experience yuma are very very very touchy and floridas are quite hardy.

yeah id say yumas are a little more finicky and will dissolve for no reasons at times
i got in a colony of greenish yumas and half are doing great and the other half and melting away

ditto to kevin, yumas are very hard to keep unless they are tank raised

I have found the opposite. I had a tank crash over memorial weekend. When we were out of town the cats somehow unplugged the entire system from the wall. All of my Yumas were recovered in 2-3 days and most of my Floridas are still bleached and recovering.

remember the picture of the Red I had gotten the week before...talk about stressed. That one was the first to bounce bank though.

Certain yumas are harder to keep. The pink yumas will melt for no reason. The rest of the colors seem to keep better and quite similar to Floridas.
