Zoa find at the LFS

Find at the Local LFS...

I found these at the local LFS that usually has some pretty boring zoanthids. I was wondering if they are what I think they are?.... safecracker reds. If so, I got them for a bargain.

This picture happens to be in my QT. They are QT'ed because I found 3 nudi's on it in the zoa dip process. I want to QT them until any possible eggs hatch and re-dip it.

Picture details..... Taken under PC lighting. I expect that they will look brighter in my MH lighting in the display. The zoas are stressed because the pics were taken shortly after the dip.

Nice. I'd love to find some red zoos at my LFShops. Picking up some blue and pink frags tomorrow. Cant wait!

I am hoping to sell some (I don't like big colonies) at the next swap :) I am sure I can end up getting my colony for free :)

They're definitely zombie eyes and I wouldn't call them common. They might be common for those lucky enough to live in California or Chicago but they've been a pretty hard morph for me to find!

i have some, from coral fanatics more than a year ago; i have only seen them offered for sale a handful of times, the last on reef central, i believe it was 40 for 15 polyps, or something close to that. they are a very red zoa, and imo bright light brings out more of the red. great find for a lfs, reds are usually picked out

Great find... I'd say not as sought after as safecrackers ... but also not as many people have them! Making them even nicer IMHO

Ready for what I paid for 'em? What do you think? There are hundreds of polyps as you can see. Most are open now. If you notice on the left, there is also an encrusting monti.

Which hitch hiker - The monty? There is also some sort of sponge (probably will be dead after hitting the air) and some sort of macro. There is also one other zoa on that macro. It is facing the back so I need to check it out.

I paid $39 for the whole colony.

Cowcio - Gary's

Well, I don't know what it is, so if you say Monti, then yes.
That is one awesome wild colony! I love em wild, they always have more character. Just watch out for bad hitchhikers.;)

It looks more like a porities to me than a monti.

Did you check the colony over for nudi eggs?

Oh...and for $40?!?! I'm sure you'll get your money back and then some in no time if you split that colony up.

I plan on splitting it up. Perhaps I am wrong, I thought it was encrusting monti. Perhaps I'll get a better pic when it is opened later today.

I did see eggs, I tried to pick them off. This is why it is still in QT in a week, I plan to re-dip it to get any possible nudi babies.

There is a 6-line in that QT also waiting for the display. I have heard that they'll eat the eggs. Do you guys know if it is true?

Do those have the blue rings? Looks like it, but hard to tell with the lighting in that QT.

Not to worry, Karen :)

Yeah, the lighting stinks in the QT. I'd like to get them under my MH just don't want to risk it just yet :)

Yes, I believe that they have the blue rings. I'll look again once the lights come back on.
