Zoa scrubbing

I just bought 25 frags with 25 or so polyps on each for $100. I kind of think I should have passed but when I got to the guys house, he had lowered the water level in the tank to clean and they were out of the water, closed up and covered in algae. He did not know what varieties he had. I brought them home, acclimated, dipped in coral dip and lightly brushed with a toothbrush. Please tell me the zoas will not mind a light brushing so I can sleep tonight.

I too, in the past have used toothbrush on zoas- works pretty well. Just take all precaution in handling and personal protection from their bacterias and toxins. Scrubbing with a brush can be very messy and dangerous to you and your household, releasing toxins in the air and spraying onto your cloths, hands, eyes, mouth as well as being inhaled.

I no longer use this method though...As Tysob44 touches base on- I use a peroxide dip to kill unwanted algea growth on zoa rocks and frag plugs. Works well for me and is the simplest method I have found. I recommend researching it well before trying. Learn exact doses, processes and risks before attempting.
