Zoa with no lights

Hi to all, i'have a question.. i live in Italy and i'm coming to the us for a trip.
Since out there you have some delicious zoa frag, i was thinking to buy some and try to bring them over to Italy...
my plan was to buy them the departure day or the day before, store them in my luggage with some water and then fly over here.. this means the frags will go in the back of the plane and will stay with no light let's say for 48 hours.. do you think they might survive?????? any other idea?? thanks a lot to all

Theyshould manage. There is alot of stuff on the propegation thread about packing for shipping. 48 hours should be OK considering the transit times from Indonesia etc. I would be more concerned about customs though. You may need to get CITES paperwork.

thanks for the reply..
how often do sellers have and give the cites if asked? what about being not in the carry on but in the big luggage, the one that doesn't go with you on the plane? i'm a little bit worried about getting freezed during flight?

If you declare it, the will ask 100% of the time leaving the states. I don't think hand lugage would be an option since you can't even take a water bottle on the plane.

If you can obtain the paperwork, you could package it and it would be sent as live animals. This is priority cargo and gets handled very well. If you just try to sneak it on the plane you would be in serious trouble if caught. All kinds of bad things could happen. Maybe prison time, a huge fine for sure and you probably would never again be able to visit the US again. Try to contact a Customs Broker and find out what the rules are. Maybe some of the guys on here that ship frags would know.

I wish I could be more helpful.

Neil
