Zoa without color

Why would some grow and not have color? I have a colony that have a few "clear" heads. They seem to eat and thrive but not especially appealing. Can they we removed or is there a way to bring the color back?

dont worry some zoas do that when they dont have to much light,if you can remove from there and replase on top near to light for a few days you will see the diference remember they like the flow but not to much,so you can add a few drops of brightwell reef building

Are these clear heads on the underside of a colony?

Were these heads once collorfull, then suddenly go white?

Sounds like it could be not enough light or bleaching, either one.

I myself have also seen bleached polyps continue to grow/spread.

Great points Sir Patrick, it would help to have these questions answered.

Also, how long have you had them?

Hope to hear back from you, good luck.

Sounds like to much light. Any pics and what kind of light do you run and whats the placement in your tank of the colony?

Sorry I lost my own post as I forgot to set up notifications and could not find it until now.

The zoa are at the middle/top of the tank. I have halides that I changed Memorial weekend.

These have been in the tank since about September of last year.

The ones without color seem to overlap or cover up all the ones with color. They appear to be all part of the new growth as it is about 5x larger than when I purchased it originially.
