Zoanthid List: Past, Present, & Future

I've finally got the light bulb situation worked out. I'm still sceptical that the 2 year old metal halide bulb was the culprit, but for the past seven months I've been monitoring my tank parameters very closely and checking them with multiple test kits, other people, etc. I can't find anything wrong with my tank besides an old bulb. I now have a replacement bulb in that has been in for about a month, and things are doing drastically better. I really think that it was the bulb that made me lose over 75% of my corals. But now that is in the past and things are recovering, I'm looking to restock some things, as well as show off a little. For those that are interested in helping me, please send me a PM. Adam, I know you'll see this, so help me confirm what is recovering in your tank and what is truly 100% gone.

Asterina Pinks: Just got from Aquarium Oddballs. Two polyps with some other Zoanthids that I can't get a good view of their color. I'm going to get a picture later.

Bam Bam Orange: 100% gone. I'm looking for a new frag. I might be able to get one from Cichlid67 in the future. Here was my frag.

Baby Back Blue: Recovering nicely in Adam's tank. When I first got them, they looked like what is linked to it. Now they look like this

Bumble Bee: 100% gone. I got them from Paul Whitby. Paul, do you still have any left? This is a shot of the last polyp before it went away

Chocolate Mint: I believe these are recovering Adam's your tank. They might have a brown skirt, but I believe it is green. They should do fine. Adam, can you confirm it they are still there and if the skirt is green or brown? I don't have a picture of these.

Crying Oranges: I got this as a single polyp. Adam has one recovering in your tank, and I still have some in my tank that are alive and doing well now. Here is a picture of mine

Dragon Eyes: 99% gone. I thought that I saw a single polyp left recovering in Adam's tank. I hope I was right. Here are mine from before the crash. I got these from Jarrod from OMAS. Adam, can you confirm?

Eagle Eyes: I believe 100% gone. Mine were just starting to take off. I got them from Dustin Combs. Adam, can you confirm?

Emeralds on Fire: I'm not sure if I lost all of these. I think they might be recovering in Adam's tank. Adam, can you confirm?

Gorilla Nipples: These are recovering in Adam's tank, and quite nicely. I've almost lost these guys multiple times because they get overgrown by Coralline algae quickly. Here are a picture of them in my tank.

Horizons: These are what I call Fire and Ice. Mine look more like Horizons though. They are recovering nicely in Adam's tank, and I find a couple surviving polyps in my tank.

Kiwi Krush: I believe 100% gone, but I might have a couple recovering in Adam's tank. Mine were a little greener then the one linked to above.

Mean Green: 100% Gone. I hope to get new ones. I originally got mine from kpk.

Monster Lips: I just got these from Aquarium Oddballs. Cool little guys. I hope to get pictures soon.

Pink Panther: Adam has these recovering in his tank. They were Sonya's birthday present from Scott at Aquarium Oddballs.

Purple Fission: 100% lost. I just found out that Cichlid67 has some. I originally got them from Jarrod from OMAS, but he lost his, and I thought I had the only ones left. These were the ones Sonya shed a tear over (and her purple/pink plate coral)

Radioactive Dragon Eyes: I still have a couple polyps left in Adam's tank last I knew. I hope they make it. Here they are in their former glory.

Raspberry Redds: These were my fastest growing Zoanthids. Kpk got a frag of these just before they started to go downhill. I hope they are doing good for him. I even have growth shots.
Month One
Month Two (I was playing with the color balance)
Month Three
They completely covered the rock, even the bottom, before they started receding. I now have about five polyps left.

Riddler Palys: I don't know if Adam has these. They might have not made it. I think they did though. These are one of my favorites. Adam, can you confirm?

Safecracker: 100% gone before I ever got a picture of them.

Tub's Blues: My true Tub's Blues are 100% gone because Coralline Algae grew over them, but Adam has some blues of mine that are very similar that I got from kpk.

For those that are willing to help me get back some of my former frags, here is a list of what I know I will need until Adam can confirm what is and isn't completely gone.
Bam Bam Orange
Bumble Bee
Mean Green
Purple Fission
Safecrackers

To make things easier on Adam, here is a list I need confirmation on:
Chocolate Mint
Dragon Eyes
Eagle Eyes
Emeralds on Fire
Kiwi Krush
Radioactive Dragon Eyes
Riddler Palys

hey travis i have about 30 or so different zoo's and paly's, i can hook you up with some frags no prob. i dont know when i will be up that way, but your more than welcome to any frags. let me know.

hate to say this Travis but I'm really unsure about those, All the zoo's you put in my tank took on such different coloring after a week or so, so those pics are kinda innacurate for my lighting, lol. I see some you say I still have but I don't recongize them, and some you say are all gone but I think I have some still. I pretty sure you still have some mean greens and safecrackers although they could be the raseberry red's, they look like the safecrackers I got from paul recently anways. Not sure about the rest. I will get some pics up this weekend and let you tell me what's what in the tank. All I can say is the ones that pulled through look fabulous and coloring really does look great, just different from all those pics, lol. I don't think I have any of those pink panthes, but the riddler paly's look very pink in my tank. I also have some other pink zoo's I got from paul that I can frag a few for ya though. Your fire and ice are doing great, I recognize those fwiw.

Thanks for the update, Adam. I really appreciate it. FWIW, I think the ones you are thinking are Mean Greens are either Mint Chocolate, Riddler Paly, or Crying Orange (which are green). I'm 99% sure that you're thinking my safe crackers are either the Raspberry Redds or Pink Panther. I lost the real Safecrackers and Mean Greens many months before you got what was left of my frags. I'm certain that they are 100% gone.

I understand that the lighting makes all the difference in the world. As silly as it sounds, the only way I know how to tell what I have is the shape of the rock that they are on ;) I have quite a few that look very similar, but they are on different;y shaped rocks.

uh oh......some of the zoo's, during there "bad time" fell off of certain rocks. I'm not 100% that they got put back on the same rocks. And then some others got put on "empty" rocks after some had past on to the big reef in the sky. Well, it'll be interesting to see what happens when you come get em, to say the least. :D fwiw, sorry bout all that, lol.

Adam, I think it is awesome how you have helped Travis. And for what it is worth, I haven't forgotten about the green star polyps. I've been preoccupied with helping Brook build her new tank stand.

-Chris

Yes, HUGE props to Adam, and I owe him a BIG one. Adam, if you don't mind, I might keep them in your tank until they show signs of growth and not just recovering. If you feel you can safely frag them without jeopordizing their health, than feel free to take what you want. It's the least I can do.

:D I've already got a couple zoo frags, lol. A couple polyps falling off here or there, snagged em up and glued em back onto reefdisks. Some of the zoo's have shown remarkable growth already, specifically the 'safecrackers' in question. As well as other non zoo corals. That toadstool is looking mighty nice now, I'd like a frag of him if nothing else...oh and the little green sinularia, he's doing awesome now, nice and fluffy all the time. I'll gladly hang on to them as long as you need travis, but also feel free to come get what you want when you want as well. I think Jess really likes me hangin' on to them cause they take up enough room that we can't go buy anymore right now, LOL! Little does she understand that there are multiple spots in my tank that can house other corals that we havn't even gotten into yet...Mua Ha Ha!!!!!

And Chris, no big rush on those star polyps, I'll gladly take em when ready but I'm not going to bug ya bout em, I can be patient. Especially with a full tank, lol. Oh, Travis, your GSP are finally all out and greenin' up now. Give em another couple weeks and they'll look just as good as mine do now.

Maybe I should start my own coral babysitting service......:D

:lmao: Between you and ReeferKeith in OMAS, I would have quit the hobby many months ago. You're keeping my 29g inhabitants, and Keith has my future 75g Montiporas.

[B, I would have quit the hobby many months ago. [/B]

Don't speak such sacreligous nonsense Travis! Of all the Hobbys I've gotten myself into, this one as been far far more rewarding. First thing I see when I get home in the evenings is my little 2.5 sitting in the living room with all these little babies so happy to see me (and the food i'm taking to them, lol) And just think of the joy and happiness it'll bring your children as you make them do water changes and clean the tank glass, once there old enough anyways. :D
You're one of the good reefkeepers, and I'm sure I speak for most of the club if not everyone when I say we'll help out anyway we can to keep ya in the hobby. Same for anyone else thinking of quitting! Don't! (but if you do, I'll take those corals for ya, lol)

Well, most likely it would have been an extended break. I don't know if I could ever permanently leave the hobby. I was just tired of seeing things die, wasting money, etc. Besides the care of fellow reefers, the promise of possibly getting baby Yellow Watchman Gobies really held me together. Now, my clowns are starting to clean up flat spots, so they could be breeding soon. Figures, eh? No culture station going, and NOW they want babies ;) But, nothing like having Black & White A. ocellaris in the future though.

hey travis i got some frags made up if ya want some...9 different colors your more than welcome to them.. i got some MEAN JOE GREENS.purple an orange an a few others..let me know when ya come down an well hook up..i got one frag of the purples wit 20 plus heads ya can have ...if it will help ya get ya zoas bac on line..

SCOTT

Scott has got some nice colored zoo's too Travis, I've gotten a few different varieties from him already and I'm extremely happy with em. And just wait until you see his Rics, not like the Tank of the Month you showed me, but it's nice nonetheless, need to send that Link to BIGSCOTT, he'll appreciate that alot.

thanks adam,i do the best i can with what i got...an i dont mind giving bac to people that has helped me in many ways..like you , when ya suggested how to do a cheap refuge..now all i need is someone in norman with cheato..hehehe i hoped i spelled it right..
an travis when i need info on anything {dontmatterwhat}he replies to my pms.. like travis said in a previous poast that he thought about throwin in the towl on reefin..every time i think about that i say its not gunna happen cuz ill call someone to gimmie some new ideas...plus im too stubborn..this is my way of saying thanks to the people that has helped me, an return the help or {stock }they have lost due to a crash.. if it wasent for sloan an a few others idda been outta here a long time ago....
thanks BIGB FOR PUTTING UP WITH ME..LOL..

BIG SCOTT

Hey Travis,

I have some radioactive dragon eyes (I think) - I got them from jimcat, but they didn't look like that pic. they have been under p.c.'s though. Also, eagle eyes that I could make a little frag of, and then I have bunch that are kinda red. lol. I bought them at premier - you can name 'em.

Hey Adam - thanks for keeping my corals too! I have some t-5's running now, so I can pick them up anytime.

well, let me know if you need either of those and I'll hook you up. I'll make a frag of the redish ones for ya too. I made a frag for the Duck's - maybe they've id'd them.

Let me double check with Adam on the R. Drag Eyes. I think a few polyps survived. I'm almost positive I'll need some Eagle Eyes, but I was in such a rush to see what made it and what didn't last time, and the lights had been on an extended period that most of my stuff was closing up already.
