Zoanthids melting away.

What's wrong with my zoanthids. They look like they are melting away. I just bought this frag a week ago and they had sand on them (diamond goby) and I lightly shook them off and they just fell apart and now it's a really small frag. What could be wrong with it. Only a couple of them actually open up.

I have zoas that close up from time to time that look like yours. From the picture they are still nice and fat. You mentioned you bought them a week ago? Sometimes when they are new they will close up a bit until they are acclimated. I would leave them on the sand bed (away from the DG) and not touch them and try to keep everything stable in your tank.

BTW, how old is your tank?

On another side note, did you dip them when you bought them?

Ca, Alk, and salinity levels? From the pic, they don't look bad.
