zoanthids wont open

purchased some zoa colonies about one week ago, dipped em, and put them in my tank, they closed up and havent opened yet, what do i do?

Any chance they are palythoas? Those can close for over a week then open for no apparent reason. I've had polyps on one close for several days while others on same colony stay open. Thinking those polyps were goners, then they open up.

Sorry to hear about your polyp retraction. There are numerous reasons why retraction occurs. Without detailed input from you, it would be impossible for anyone to truly help with this issue, so we really need you to help us. There is a sticky up top entitled, "When asking for help". Start hear and share as much information about your purchase and your system with us.

Then go to a thread entitled, "25 Reasons why your polyps won't expand", hopefully something there will help as well. Then come back and share the above info with us and I'm sure someone here can help. Good luck my friend.

When this happens I usally dip in peroxide dip and move to a darker part of the tank.
