Zoas/palys on sand

I currently have all of my zoas and palys on the sand in my tank, but as I was cruising around tonight I found coralpedia or something like that, and they said that they would spread to the sand. That would sorta put in a kink in my sprawling zoa/paly garden.
What are ya'lls experiences with zoas/palys and sand?

It will grow onto the sand. The mat of the zoas attaches to grains of sand.

^good :)
that's what i thought, guess next time i shouldn't stress so much over a website that can be edited by anyone.... :P

Yeah, its nothing to worry about. It also makes it alot easier to frag the zoas cause you can easily snip some heads off with some scissors instead of scraping them off the rock.

That's the idea! I <3 your siggie, btw:bigeyes:

The zoa/paly are basically going to spread onto anything (well maybe not aptasia, anemones, mushroom types) it is just a question of how well you can lift them off and frag them. 1+ on sand is the easiest.

K. I think I'm going to need to put them on a rock, I got a condy nem today and don't want it to sting the zoas and palys if i can help it. how do i get the rocks on the frag plugs off[the zoas are growing on the rocks...]?

When i used to have sand.. i saw the same affect the "mat or foot" of the zoa will grab hold of a graniel of sand.. +1 makes fragging easier.. take a razor blade and "chop a line" OF SAND PEPOLE.. :fun5:
