Zoathid Nudi's!!! dips?

Freshwater alone will kill the nudis, no need for any fancy dipping solution. Eggs are of course another matter. I don't know that any dip will kill them. Maybe gasoline or bleach will.

Everyone here in Illinois is getting the Green Coris Wrasse! Works like a charm... You should try it, it won't hurt!

I haven't found anything that kills the eggs. You either have to scrape them off, or do weekly FW dips to kill the newly hatched.

Yup, if we could find something that killed the eggs without hurting the coral, we'd be in business (not only for zoa nudis, but AEFW's, monti nudis and the like would be next on the list;)). I dip weekly in Lugol's and FW and examine every colony being dipped (which is everything in the QT-does no good to only dip a few if you now there are nudis' in the tank). With a clamp on light and a tooth pick, I look for and remove the egg sacks (they are sticky and don't come off too easily). After several weeks of this, you should be in good shape if you are finding/removing most of the egg clusters each dip.

A natural predator is a great way to control populations, but it most likely will not eradicate them. No issue if you plan on either not trading/selling frags, or if you plan to dip and inspect frags for nudis before redistributing. If you know you've got them in your tank, but have them under control, you really should mention it to the person you trade/sell to so they can be more cautious with the frags. When you don't know you have something and give it to someone else (taking coral pests here;)), that is one thing, but if you now you have something and don't mention it, you become part of the problem with spreading these guys around. Most people honestly don't know they have anything when someone else finds it, so it is ultimately the person receiving the corals responsibility to make sure they are free of pests before introducing them into the display where they could be unleashing a monster. Haven't been online in three days, so my high horse was rearing to go. Sorry for the extra (unrequested) info, but the first paragraph should be helpful (or at least old news rehashed). HTH

after dipping them treat the tank 1 week later with a double dose of flatworm exit and any eggs that hatch will be killed off... Yellow coris wrasses work great as well. I have a yellow coris and a mystery wrasses and both hunt the zoas and rockwork loike bloodhounds looking for nudis pods and other tasty morsals. My mystery wrasses will hoover over a zoa collony and lock onto his target and dart into the zoas for them.

So a green coris wrasse huh?

is that the same as the green sea grass wrasses?

The corals infected are not being sold/traded/redistributed...

so flatworm exit does kill the babys?

The sea grass wrasse is different than the green coris wrasse.
I tried the green coris wrasse after watching it's behavior over a couple days at the lfs.
Just the way it hunted and looked at every crook and cranny in the tank it was in, made me want to give it a try.
There are alot of different fish/wrasses that might work.

I used a neon wrasse (Halichoeres garnoti). It too inspects all the rocks and pecks at tiny things in them. Much to my annoyance, he also grabs loose frags and tosses them around looking for food in and under them. Very effective hunter, but quite annoying at times. I'm not entirely certain that he ate the nudibranchs or the eggs, but soon after his introduction, my nudibranch problem ended. I used the wrasse in combination with frequent FW dipping of frags and flatworm exit. I'm not sure which of these treatments was most effective, but the 3 combined definitely ended my problem. I've been nudibranch free for around 6 months.

Now I'm probably getting rid of the wrasse as he's not pretty and I think he killed my blood red fire shrimp.

Winning The Battle!!!

Winning The Battle!!!

Hey you guys, this is what I have tried..

I dipped all the rocks in FW, pure RODI, and swished for approx. 20-30 seconds, then washed off with saltwater..

this killed a great # of them...

Afterwards I watched, and if I saw any adults appear I would syphon them out..

I did a double dose of Flatworm Exit and that seemed to kill off adults too!

I noticed a few egg cases and gently syphoned them out making sure I got the whole case/coil/strand/bunch whatver...

Then did another double dose of Flatworm Exit...

This seems to have worked.. I have noticed no adults or juvies, or egg packets at all...

I am watching closely... and will for the next two weeks, If I see no more adults, juvies or eggs I will declare it cured!
