Zoo growth rate under 20k light

I still have a lot to learn about zoanthids, and as the search feature is not working please could somebody answer me this question.

I am planning a new tank which will house only zoanthids with possibly a few ricordia florida, could anyone please tell me if the growth rate will be affected under this lighting as say opposed to a 14K light.
One other question, if i used the 20K light, could i get away with not using any actinics,

any hekp or advice would be appreciated,

cheers,

Peter.

zoas will grow faster under lower k, but they wont' look nearly as good,

as to actinics, that is pure personal preference.

Thanks for the reply mate.
So what would you recommend.

21k = slower growth but look better.

14K = look good but with better growth rate than 21K.

14k + actinics = as above but with colours looking even better than 14K only.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated,

Peter.

this is the first time I'm going to use 20k and going with XM's.. I can let you know of progress...

I'm also going to try 14K Hamiltons and 15K XM's in the future and will document a 4 month period on each light.. :)

good luck..

I was a bit too general, as it also depends on bulb, ballast, reflector, size of tank, shape of tank, depth of zoas... etc.

the truth is that the 21k might be providing all the zoas need, no one really knows. there are so many other variables, so i say go with what looks good to you, and if your water is good, both in quality and flow, your lighting will likely not be the bottleneck to growth. the biggest hinderance to growth imo is moving them around.
