i have a colony of zoos right now.. and one of them seems to be sprouting a out what seems to look like waste from the middle of the mouth. is this how they excrete waste?

Might be xoozanthellae.
Very common when acclimating to light. Can even happen from water changes or by adding carbon.

I have seen a substance being expelled out of the center of zoanthids, and I do believe it was waste.

I have the same thing happenning. It happens to mine when they're closed. In fact it never happened at all then one day they closed up and started to look sickly and they expelled this stuff.

Poop, xoozanthellae, I think without a picture it's tough to tell.
FYI, the zoanthid needs to eat to poop. If you're not feeding or they're not eating, then it's probably not poop. Also, I cannot remember the last time my zoanthids actually took solid food in through their mouth.

But, really, noone has enough info to make an educated guess on what it is. A picture, decription of the system, location of the colony, time it's been in your aquarium, maintenance...?

More importantly, how are they doing now?
