zoos by the naked eye

hey guys. i'm somewhat new to the "zoo world" of this hobby. i'm addicted as most of you hear.

i've seen a good amount by now and have a start of a good collection. i must say that many of these zoos contain excellent color combinations but are mostly enjoyable under a magnifying lens or a photograph which zoomed in for great detail.

having this said, i'd say one of the nicest zoos would be the whammin watermelons. i know this are quite common but by the naked eye these are very appealing.

i'm not suggesting they are the best, but i've seen many other zoos which are rare and alot more expensive that don't look as appealing.

this thread isn't meant to start a heated debate..just an observation.

what do you guys think?

I love those polyps and they grow VERY fast. A very common Indo polyp that you can find at you LFS for cheap. Welcome to the addiction! good luck

while we're at it...wouldn't mind hearing more of some great zoos that are similar.

i saw some recently that were bright pink. supposively they are cotton candy zoos..but online they dont look as pink...who knows with all these names ;]

i do not get caught up in all the names..i see some polyps with 6 or seven different names for them...but i have a few frags and a colony of the ones you were talking about...that red and green glow nice under actincs and moon lights but look good anytime... they do grow very well...these are some other ones that are very cheap that i have always loved to look at and people that see my tank always like more than others and grow pretty fast too!!

wrasseguy2,

i like those. i have some radioactive dragon eyes just like audio101 mentions..however those look a little different. what are those if you don't mind me askin.

green zoas..thats what i call them and where i buy my zoas the just call them zoas..and where ther from..they do not use all the names that others use..an i do not either but that is a subject for another time...i have seen them called radioactive dragon eyes as audio posted..they are very common and i see them in every store that i been to..those zoas are some of my favorites too..they glow very nice under the mhs and under just actincs

Hey audio, what are those on the left of the tank? They look pretty nice, as do they all!

I'm not really sure of the name, I haven't checked zoid yet. They seem to be growing very fast and coloring up into a purple/bluish morph. The big orange centers are pretty sweet. I'll be fragging some soon, by the way.
;)

They are? I never saw blowpops with that blue of a ring. What lighting was the pic taken under? I have some blowpops and the center is more of a teal color then bright blue. I love mine as well!

I'll have to *try* to get a good pic of my frag under actinics. They deffinitly don't show up that blue, but I still love them! Could be cause I run 10k halides on the tank during the day and they never developed that intensity of blue because of that.
