zoos closed for a long time

Hi all,
Went to my first meeting last week. Can't wait for the next one. Very informative for a newbe. Thanks to everyone who answered some of my questions.
Here's another one. I have three colonies of zoos (all right next to each other) that have been closed now for about 5 days. They are not 'melting'. They don't seem to have anything growing on them but I'm not experienced enough to 'see' anything I'm afraid. They were doing great for the past 5 months. Nothing has change in the tank and there is even another colony looking great on the other side of the tank.
I read some threads and they say to dip them in FW. Yes, no? For how long? I am afraid to blow them off with a baster in case they have something on them that will spread the the other colony.
Well I'll stop and wait to hear from the group. Thanks in advance.
Michael

I always clean my Zoo's with a blast from the turkey baster and it has yet to be detremental to them.I have had colonies of Zoo's that were closed for a very long time and reopened and now look great???

maybe there was a change in the water chemistry or tank conditions? some of my zoas closed up for a week or so when i first got them in from shipments.

Welcome to the boards!:D

Zoas are not as easy as some like to think. They can do very well in an aquarium and then sometimes for no reason go belly up.
Of course there is a reason, it's finding it. Can you post a picture?

You'll also want to list your current parameters, equipment and the last thing you changed/added to the tank.
