the zoos in my tank open up
but the skirts seem to not extend .
my mushrooms also seem to be affected .
my sps are fine and all my aquarium levels are fine
but my calcium seemed a little low . could that be the problem ?
In my aquarium that would sound like low alk too me. I've seen it cause some zoa colonies completely close and some mushrooms shrivel up while not affecting other colonies at all.
If not caused by low alk as stated by Stanton it may also be that the colonies just need to get used to the light. I remember when I changed my lights from purely T5's then switched to a 150W MH w/ T5's all my mushrooms and colonies just decided to close up and when they opened again all their skirts shrunk. After acclimating to the new lights after a few weeks everything went back to normal. But definitely check your water parameters as that can also contribute to the problem.
I may have to check my alk again I checked it when I noticed my this problem andand it checked out ok but it could have been a little low I'll recheck tonight . thanks
