This Aquaripure denitrator video says to use straight vodka so I don't see a problem for other denitrators if you use the appropriate quantity. You can also use grenadine apparently.

What is advantages of using denitrator device vs carbon dosing directly into tank? Imo such unit can replace big amounts of live rocks, but is that main reason or?
