Well Ive been on RC just over a year and hit my 1000th post!! I felt it was about time to introduce my tank.

Background, Ive had many FW and I had a 12g SW for about 5 years, nothing fancy, but I learned the basics. Then a little over a year ago my GF helped me upgrade! After months of researching here on RC, I finally got set up on 8-16-06.

First off id like to thank everybody here on RC for all the advice and cheap equipment and frags. With out RC and my club (Fox Valley Reefer Club) my tank would not be what it is today.

System:
Tank: 30 long AGA, 30lb fine CC, and roughly 40lb LR, DIY stand

Sump: 10g AGA

Fuge/frag tank: 10g AGA Cheato + xenia for nutrient export. 55w CF 50/50

Lighting: Coralife 36" 2x96w CF (10,000K 10 hours/day and 420K 13h/d) 2 lunar lights

Return: Eheim 1250 through SCWD (roughly 200gph after head loss)

ATO: gravity fed through coralife float valve from a 2g bucket. (1/2 - 3/4 gpd) Works great salinity rarely changes!

Wavemaker: Aquarium Systems Power strip w/ 1 MJ 1200, and 2 MJ 900 w/ hydroflo's (very random flow), also 2 more PH one in fuge and one in show tank.

Dosing: Kalk fully saturated, drip through aqualifter pump, 1 min/hr 24/7 (1/3 gpd)

Filtration: Red Sea Berlin Turbo Protein Skimmer, and HOB w/carbon and filter floss. Filter sock between fuge and sump.

Temp control: 100w heater and 2 fans (small one in sump, Large one on desk next to tank blowing over whole setup)

Salt: Reef Crystals

Water: Wally world distilled (purple cap)

Controller: Aquacontroller Jr. w/serial port, temp and lab grade pH probe. Runs most to all of my system from lights, wavemaking, temprature control, and dosing.

Testing: Refractometer for salt, Salifert for Ca and KH, dipsticks for Ite and Ate, AC Jr. for pH and Temp. (Mag test kit on wish list)

Electricity: Lots... 20 outlets used. Including a GFCI and 2 ground probes. NOT including my lava lamps either :) + wavemaker power strip, 3 timers and one DC 8.

Livestock:
Engineer Goby
2 Neon Gobys
Yellow Clown Goby
Red Head Goby

Hand full of snails and hermits
3 Pepperment shrimp

Corals:
10 differant Paly/Zoas
6 types of Mushrooms including flordia ricordias
2 types of GSP
2 types of Xenia
2 types of candycane
frogspawn
purple tipped digita
green monti cap
toadstool leather
enchino
sun coral
blasto
and a partridge in a kenya tree.

Tank is setup for low maintaince, daily feeding glass cleaning, every 3 days for filling kalk and ATO, weekly testing, bi-weekly to monthly 10% changes, cleaning as needed. Thats about it, time for pics...

CONGRADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope to join you soon and amount the knowledge one can obtain at the 1000 post mark.

Only problem I see with it is that Engineer Goby. They get big! Also, the bigger they get, the more they move around to try to create their perfect "home".

Thankx for the kind words, keep the comments comming...

Congrats Bri. Someday I'll get there and be half as good as you at this.

Having seen this setup in person, I do have to say he has learned well. The overflow setup is extremely cool and the layout and rockwork are sophisticated and simple all at the same time. And the zoos, gsp and other corals look great under the actinics.

Heres my start to date pics...

I do spend a lot of time cleaning the glass, both with a mag float and a metal blade hand glass cleaner for coraline. Sand is cleaned by cleanup crew and current turning it.

Thankx for all the great complements! Its been a fun ride so far!

WOW what a great tank. That what i'm aiming for in my 55g reef, nice and easy, low maintence.
-do u have pics of the sump section on the left, with the skimmer i wanna see how u set it up?

P.S the link to your photobucket doesnt work b/c u need a password if u want people to view ur pics u need to make the album public instead of private

I changed my user name after only a hundred posts or so. I just had to ask a mod for permission, and maybe have a reason...

Mine was podheadx, and there was some confusion in my reefer club :bum:

Gotta love your Goby's..

Have you ever considered a yellow panda goby?

I would love to get a pair and see if I can breed them.
