1.5" Bulkhead Hole Size Range - Help!

If the instructions for a 1 1/2" bulkhead are to drill a hole 2 3/8", would it be okay if the hole is a bit bigger? Say about 2 1/2" - 2 5/8"? Would there be any problem with a slightly bigger hole than required? What is the biggest hole that can be safely used?

(btw... I don't want to make a big hole, I'm trying to correct a bonehead mistake :headwalls

Probably, but it depends on the bulkhead and the size of the flange. The larger the hole, the less flange and gasket area you have to make a seal. 2 ½" you should be ok, 2 ⅝ may be cutting it close.

Another option would be to use a schedule 80 bulkhead which requires a 2.51" diameter hole anyways.
