hi i have a 24 gallon d&d nano with a seahorse, can i add another seahorse or is 1 the limit for that size tank? thanks

That should be fine. I have 2 Erectus in a 24G. nanocube. Seahorses do much better with a playmate. Honestly the height of the tank would concern me more than the gallons for a single pair. Is this the nanocube, biocube, aquapod 20" high design? The height of the tank is the most important thing at this size tank. For instance, I personally don't think a 40 gal. regular tank (36x15x16) would be good for seahorses, I would always look for a minimum of 19-20" in height.

I'd have to disagree. The only seahorses you could keep in a 10g would be dwarves. In a 10g, there is not enough height to keep any one seahorse at all. 29g is really recommended.
For the 20g...I agree with the others, you could keep one more.

Actually....taken out of context most likely. You could keep a few different species in tanks using the 1 pr. per 10 gallon rule. What you need to remember is the MINIMUM TANK SIZE recommendation. 30 gal is usually the minimum recommended tank to start with, which equates to 1 pair per 10 gal. It DOES NOT mean you could start a 10 gal tank for a single pair of seahorses. nor does Jorge recommend using a 10 gal tank for a pair. He often recommends stocking density at 1 pr. per 10 gallons. Again, that doesn't mean to use a 10 gal tank. It means if you use a 30, 55, 100, 125 gal.....you can put one pair in per 10 gal. There is a big difference in the interpretation.

I don't think scapes meant you could keep them in a 10 gal. tank. It certainly wouldn't be tall enough. The 24 gal. nano's height is actually great for a pair of horses. A regular 20gal. tank is not high enough (nor is even a regular 40 gal.) for any of the larger horses. But that doesn't apply as he does have a nano. I actually order my Erectus from Jorge, great guy.
I would certainly get your girl a playmate. Also, POSITIVELY get rid of those aiptasia. I bought a pair of peppermint shrimp for my horse tank recently and they took care of the few aiptasia I had in a couple days. The also spawned. My boy horse was in heaven hanging out at thier rock munching on the baby shrimp larvae for a day.

hi the aiptasia is gone know and has been for a while. i am going to get another seahorse. 2 questions, how do i tell if mine is a female or a male? and what type of seahorse is it? thanks for everyones advice

It is a female. It is quite easy to tell the sex of seahorses, females don't have a pouch. The coloration is very similar to the Kuda but based on the coronet I am betting Riedi. It can be difficult at times to tell Reidi and Kuda apart, they are quite similar and they ways to tell them apart are not always that pronounced. I bet if you asked at seahorse.org you could get a more definite answer.
