1" Sand Bed Goby

Starting a 34g cube and going g to put in a 20lb bag of sand which will give me a 1" sand bed. Will this be a problem for Gobies? I really like the Orange Spotted Goby but it doesn't make a huge difference if I have to get a different one for the 1" sand bed.

what kind of sand are you using? sugar-sized sand? the orange spotted goby seem to like to sand shift and build with the sand. its up to you, but 1" seems fine, but more is always better, imo.

My orange spotted shrimp goby (Amblyeleotris guttata) doesn't sift or dig, are you sure you're not thinking Diamond Watchman (Valenciennea puellaris)? They're often confused, even by sellers. If the orange spotted shrimp goby is paired with a pistol shrimp, a lot of digging will go on by the shrimp & 1 inch won't be enough for a burrow to be built by the shrimp unless they pile a lot up in one area. Mine never paired with my pistol, so he just sleeps behind a rock.

Our sandbed is 2 inches & the goby is fine with it. We also have a small pistol and it's fine for it, too. Sure wish they'd pair up, but it's been over a year. We love our orange spotted, she's a bit of a character.
