Ok, let me know what you guys think. I'm thinking of a tank like a 225 and splitting it with egg crate right down the middle live rock on both sides but one side reef n fish and the other lion fish and such. Whats some of the concerns and ideas?

Improper flow would be the first thing that comes to mind. 2nd, lionfish are messy eaters=high nitrates & possibly phosphates..not good for a reef. I would suggest you choose one or the other.

I agree with Carole. It's difficult to properly feed a lion in a reef tank, and it's difficult to properly flow a reef in an agressive tank.

Carole's concerns are true but it can be done, just may take some extra effort on your part for water changes and the such. Ive got a 180 reef tank that sits on top of a 125 carnivore tank with a 2 foot eel and a large pufffer, both dirty eaters and I have managed to pull it off. I do water changes more often than when it was just a reef and I also made sure to get a much beefier skimmer. It will be a lot more work but you can pull it off if your willing to commit to more water changes.
