The bathroom silicone contains the anti mold/mildew chemical which is supposably toxic to your inhabitants. I would recommend doing some research here before you put the sump in service. There are many threads on the subject.

To share my experience, after much research I used GE Silicone II Windows and Doors which is not anti mold/mildew and still almost wiped out my tank. Many people here have used it without problem. I ended up resiliconing my baffles with reef safe silicone. It took my tank over a month to recover.

I used bathroom silicone so not to mold.

A few notes:

1 the extra fall doesn't help anything since the water level is the same on both sides.
2 If you can't find black acrylic, you can use krylon fusion to paint the overflow. Do a coat of white then a coat of black I don't really know if it's worth it but I did it on a cichlid tank filter 2 years ago and it worked.
3) you can help prevent a flood by attaching the venturi valve on a powerhead to the top of the overflow. This will pull out any air that collects there. It's not full-proof but it can help avoid a big mess.

i've try that sump settup,it didn't work for me, hard to fit the skimmer, heat and pump. with mh it was tough to keep the water level, i would get a ton of micro bubbles in the(display) tank when the water level drop.

i would just use an empty 10g, set you pump at one end and your in let(from tank) filter bag at the other end and skimmer(in sump or hang on?) and heat in the middle.
in a 29g w/ small bio load and a good skimmer + LR you won't need a refuge imo.
