A week ago my 10 gallon nano was leaking while I was not home. The leak was in the middle of the aquarium so my clownfish is alive but everything else is dead.I took my clownfish and my lfs is taking care of it. I am picking up a 12 gallon nanocube today. Any ideas for the 12 gallon? Any recomendations?

thanks, also does anybody know anything about vibrant reef salt. Im curing my lr with it and i get exactly 1.024 every time with no ajustments. I use a portable refractometer.

DX lighting is perfectly fine for soft corals and some LPS.

Instead of the minijet, get yourself a maxijet 900. I had a minijet 606 in my cube and it really wasnt much better than the stock pump. the 900 was perfect.

Don't see why you can't run the cube with saltwater and live sand .

It'll give you a chance to check out the flow and get used to how it's supposed to be running.

If you're pulling water out of the tank that fast a surface skimmer shouldn't be necessary.

However, depending on the corals you want to keep, the flow might be too much.

i always cycle my uncured rock in the tank it is going to be used in. you can get it in the tank and try a bunch of different aquascape designs and if you need to add a piece or 2 of rock its much better to do it at this point than down the road. I'd say heck yah get some rock in there too :)

and about the surface skimmer thing - you absolutely CAN use the surface skimmer. the only thing is that the water is then taken out of the sump area. if you dont use the surface skimmer -water evaporates and the display and sump area level. with the surface skimmer water evaporates and it makes up the difference in your display with water from the sump area. You just need to keep an eye every couple days on the sump and fill it up with RO/DI or distilled water. My nanocube can go about 5 days w/o running dry but i try and add top off water daily. (but it is in my office so it has to make it through weekends)
