10 Gallon with Aqua C Remora Regular w/Maxi1200 = Disaster?

No I havent done it lol but the pump is kinda big and will take up space. I have one on my 55.
If it's a standard 10 gal Ive read it doesnt fit as it's too tall.
They do make nano remoras now.
I would go to the remora site and check out the dimentions.

I didnt see the nano on aqua C's site so heres what I found on google

Aqua C Nano Remora Protein Skimmer Features:
A miniature version of the popular Remora hang-on skimmer. Uses half the power of the regular Remora. The NANO is designed for tanks between 5-25 gallons and is powered by a Maxi Jet 900 pump. This is the first skimmer that is small enough to fit a nano-reef, while still yielding strong and dependable performance. The NANO measures 16" tall and 2.75" thick.

900 is pretty much the same size as the 1200, so won't make much difference in your tank. Does draw less than half the power for more than 2/3 the flow, so that seems like a good trade-off. I have two mj1200s in my tank for flow, and am considering swapping them out for 900s so they'll last longer on back-up power.

The remora creates back-pressure, so the turnover is less than the 296 g/h (or so) on the 1200 spec. If you can get the regular Remora to fit on/in your tank, I don't see a problem with it.

thank you for the feedback,

after studying all I could find on the nano version, I decided on the regular for these reasons.

Found a post stating that the remora can simply sit on the table behind the tank at 12.75" needed for top portion of lip. My concerns were turbulence and heat. Seems like it will work. So just bought one, will send pictures and updates on how this works out.

Note:
Could not find a single review on the nano. Seems as if the dynamics of the Maxi1200 with the size of the regular is perfected with respect to optimal skimate. The nano, I have heard from vague referrences is not as efficient and simply a shorter unit than the regular with a smaller pump.

I'm sure the regular one will work better as it's bigger.
I just knew I read it did'nt fit and wanted you to know that.

Thanks Kass, Will send an update in case anyone is considering doing the same thing. My shipment is due tomorrow. Can't wait!

Yeah I that exactly and for the skimmer I think is a good Idea but the rio 1200 are kind of big and will disturb the substrate too much, half the flow should do fine.
