10$ zoa frag

Hey I bought this frag to test my maxspect razor lights out. I'm trying to find the right height and settings without renting a par meter. It looks like renting may be easier though. Here us a pic of my zoa at midday. It's odd they are reaching for light it seems, yet they close at midday. In the morning however they all open wide and look normal. I've moved them up from the sand bed a few days ago and they are about halfway up the tank now.

If your done with the light adjustment, start moving the zoas up higher every few days until they look good to you. Mine on average range from 12-18" from the light on 8" legs.

How large is the tank? What size is the fixture and how high are they set and for how long are they on?

I would put the coral as low as possible to start and slowly move them upwards over a few weeks. Estimating par is not as easy as it may seem. Many things contribute to par in any given area in the tank so without a par meter, trial and error is your best friend. It is better to start with not enough light and move upwards than to burn the corals from over exposure.

It's a 46 gallon bow front, and it's a 27 inch 16k maxspect. I have them about 8inches above the water. The lights are on for 12 hrs a day. They start out at 1% 930 am max out at 65% 230 and are at 1% blues by 930pm
