100 gallon acrylic build

I have recently decided to get back in the hobby! So far picked up a tank, stand, sump, skimmer and mp60. Still have to figure out what to do for lighting even though I am already leaning on the idea of some old school t5's lol. The tank is 1" thick acrylic. Have quite a few things to get and being it is Christmas time it's probably going to be a slower build than what I am use to. Plan on adding a small fish room/area in the basement where this will eventually be plumed too.

Looks good. l like the stand and the access it provides (both doors without center support).

If you plan on running a light in the sump (grow macro, etc), then I would add a panel to the back of one of the doors to block any light that would show when the doors are closed.

example below is on the canopy of my tank but same concept for the stand doors. you do have to open the (right door in my case) first to open the left but you quickly make that a habit.

Well my plan is to plumb it straight down into the basement where I will have a very large area to add lots of water volume and have a frag tank, huge fuge and am thinking about doing an old school algae scrubber. In the past doing tank maintenance has become an obstacle for me since work and family has been so demanding of my time and energy. So this time I am looking to make this hopefully a simple but also somewhat automated system that is easier for me to maintain. Luckily I have a friend that can help me think outside the box as he has done some really amazing things in and out of this hobby! We'll see how this build goes but I think it's going to turn out to be one of my best or at least this is what I am hoping :lmao:

Being it's Christmas this is the best time to build things for a great price. Free! you could just ask people to get you the little things u need. Just send out ur list. Hope u get all u want

Yeah I tried that but for some reason I only get what others want to get me. Never has anything to do with my hobby lol I don't get it

So a quick question... I am looking to put a Barracuda pump in the basement (as soon as I find or purchase one) to feed the display but I am thinking about using the 1" return lines as well as the 3/4" lines as drains and just coming over the back with a return. Is that overkill? I am going to have a few tanks in the basement to feed from the pump as well just thought it might be a good idea to make sure I can drain the amount of water being pumped upstairs. Not sure wether to do a 1 1/2" return upstairs and run 2 1" returns tee'd off by the tank and over the back or just feed the 2 3/4" returns and just have 2 1" drains, what do you think?

Why not use one of the new vectras mounted in the sump? Uses a lot less power than the 'cuda will, especially given the head reduction, and fully controllable?

Ok well ordered Spectrapure's MaxCap® 2:1 Manual Flush 90-GPD RO/DI System - MC-RODI-90-10-MF

Also have a Reeflo Gold Hammerhead pump coming and a 57 watt Aqua UV Sterilizer on it's way. That is just going to be one of a couple sterilizer's I am going to have on the system. It will be the main UV however I think I am going to have a couple installed throughout the system as there is going to be more tanks in the basement. Hopefully I will soon have some progress added to this build as I am getting the necessities to at least get the system started so we can get some water running through the house.

Been a while since I updated this but haven't had a lot of progress. I have however got the hole in the floor for plumbing. I will have to get a picture of it on here. I also picked up a calcium reactor, CO2 Regulator, skimmer and Maine live rock. That's it but more work and purchasing will be done soon!
