Hi guys, this is my first thread on reef central and i have a question. When i fill up my 100 gallon acrlyc tank, the front and back puffed out and it looks like a bubble is bulbing out of it. Is this normal or not? if it isnt can you give me any advice? please help. thanks!

there is another sheet of acrylic glued on top of the tank, the stand has a sheet of plywood ontop of the stand about a half inch thick. Sorta like a table. Does this effect it in anyway

Sounds like the builder did not use the proper acrylic thickness for the tank. The stand really wouldn't effect the bowing i dont think. What thickness is the acrylic?

run for the hills!

No but really, that tank should be made out of at least 1/2 inch. Take a better picture of the top of the tank.

Moved to NTTH ....

If those pics are accurate I'd be afraid to have that tank in my house :eek1:

WOW...something seriously wrong with that tank...i am very surprised the seems stayed together when you filled it...Drain it before it drains itself...

they certainly did not use the appropriate thickness of acrylic or that build...

not to be rude but that is the funniest thing i have seen today...scary sad some one would build and sell a tank like that, but still kinda funny neat to see...

I think he means its funny that somebody would sell that tank and call it acceptable. +1 on the draining.

Yes, I would get rid of it. I certainly would insist on 1/2 inch minimum and preferably 5/8 thick acrylic with eurobracing on top. Bowing now means wet carpet later.
