Hey all
I am finally filling my 100g fowlr.
The current tankmates for the last 2yrs are;
3" pajama
4" coral beauty
2" bangaai
2" royal gramma

I really wanted a large angel for this tank but due to tank size and wanting to keep it a truely peaceful tank I am changing stocking ideas.I have a completely covered top so going with jumpers seems to fit right in.

Here's my list
2 firefish
2purple firefish
y.watchman goby
randalls pistol shrimp
black cap jawfish
I was wondering about the personality of firefish. From all the ones I've seen they seem like a perfect match for my tank.Behavioral traits, compatibility, and opinions on these guys are what I'm looking for.
Thanks
Mike

Firefish are fairly dull IMO, I have one purple firefish. They don't swim around much, mine just hover's around the bottom of the tank . They are very timid so they won't cause any problems with the fish you have listed. You may run into problems with multiple firefish so I wouldn't get more than one, I have heard they can be aggressive towards there own kind.

Why not replace some of the firefish with something like a fairy wrasse. They are very colorful, active swimmers and great community fish. Plus you tank is covered so you don't need to worry about them jumping.

Don't mean to be a damper but you might want to consider increasing your water circulation in the tank and venting the hood some how. The tank seems sealed and there should probably be some kind of gas exchange at the surface especially when it comes to reaching the stocking limits that you are going for.

definately don't put four firefish together, they are very peaceful to other fish however to subspecies they are vicious, I would only keep one per tank.

don't firefish school in the ocean? i have always heard either keep one or more then 3, but when keeping 3 or more you must add them at the same time

The skimmer more than oxygenates the water.Tanks been like that for 4 years.

It's a 5 foot long tank with 100 lbs live rock.

i had 2 firefish --the more dominant kept destroying the others dorsal everytime it grew --eventually it killed it. they are mean to eachother --plus the colors get real dull when it matures. I grew tired of it after it got to be full grown. Very hardy though I cleaned live rock outside my tank on 2 occasions and found it on the carpet for at least 5 minutes After a day in the tank it was up and swimming again!! A new fish eventually beat it to death

I enjoy my fridmani pseudochromis and 2 royal grammas the best -- the purple really blazes under PC lighting.

I 'd look at yellow assesors or blue assesors-- those fish do school and look sharp. The tank of the month has a pic of a yellow one. They have 3 color variations --I like the yellow w/ kiwi green and orange ones

Hi

As juveniles they live in groups, as adults they live in pairs. Sexing is possible, but difficult. I had a pair, no aggression. One eventually jumped out, putting another one in turned into a disaster, they chased each other so much, eventually I lost both.

Best wishes

Jens

I like the fridmani, thats a great fish.

I know that peoples replies here are just suggestions but so far about 50% of the post on this tread say not to add more than one or that they are known to be aggressive twards each other.

Dr. foster and smith say "It is generally not aggressive towards other fish except those of its own species; a mated pair can live peacefully."

All arrows lead to max of two if they are mated one if they are not. Good luck

If your going for a piecefull setup and change your original plans to do so, don't you think you might want to start by adding fish that are peacefull twards each other. IMO your stumping your own toes.
