100g soft coral system evolution - 1 year old

Hey everyone,

Well my tank finally turned 1year old last week, so I thought it was about time I got around to post some pic's. Now its not as awesome as most of the tanks I see on here, so dont be too hard on me :D

The tank itself is 120cm(l) x 45cm(w) x 60cm(d), with 6x 54w t5ho's for lighting. I run a shallow sand bed in there which the fish seem to love to spred around for me  and sprinkle over my corals, lol. I have 2x 2500lph return pumps, and a tunze nanostream 6025 for water movement.

I run a 3' sump which is lit 24/7 where I grow macro algea (all be it slowly as its only lit with a double t8) and lots of pods. The tank has been running for the past year skimmerless, but today I added a deltec MC500, which has already pulled out 1/3 of a cup of gunk.

I hope you guys enjoy. Please if you have any questions, comments, or ideas let me know. I'm always looking for ways too improve.

Cheers, Jake.

Your tank looks great. About your 24/7 light cycle for your fuge. You might want to try 16hrs on 8 off. I don't know if this is true for macroalgae but I culture microalgae and they do better on 16hrs on 8 off then 24hrs straight.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Would love to get a wave box in there at some stage!

Get a small mantis shrimp! I'm serious. It's not going to harm anything in that tank.
Haha that would be cool, but unfortunatly mantis shrimp are few and far between down in this part of the world. I only know of one that I have heard of in the whole country! :eek1: Im sure there are a few around tho.

I Had been wondering about this. What time would you have the lights off? While the main tank is lit?

Cheers, Jake.

Ya, run it from like 7pm to 1pm.

Wow that is beautiful.. I'm striving for the same type of tank. I love the soft/LPS corals :inlove:

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone!
Yea there are a few LPS/SPS corals in there, but try to keep it mainly softies. I just love the movemnet they give you with a bit of current. :D

I have just been playing with the RAW mode on my camera, so thought I would put up a slightly better FTS...
