1050Ltr + Father & Son Dream Build

Our current 160x60x60 Stand has started to warp after 7 years, so I think we have done well out of it, and we have had an offer of a 250x70x60, 1050Ltr tank from a local store, its a cancellation on a sale pre Christmas.

We own a small B+B in the Bavarian Forest National Park and our current 160x60x60 reef is on one side of our guest breakfast room but we get so many questions about it, and we have to move it anyway so decided on a small upgrade.

This week after lots of videos and pictures from the internet we decided on a stand we looked at cinder block and the like but we are not DIY dudes so decided on wood, as we have never touched a drill before.

After sorting out the design you would of thought sourcing 4x2 and 10x8 in Europes largest forest would be an easy ride, but we had to visit 5 different Saw mills and 3 super stores before we got the wood we required.

Anyway here is a couple of pictures of the start of the stand build, nearly complete but just a few bits and the panelling to finish.

What do you think, is it better to paint or vanish the stand?

We are going to build a breakfast bar where the current aquarium sits.

Paint the inside bright white so you can see what you are doing when performing maintenance. You can seal the outside with paint, varnish or polyurethane, depending on what best suits the rest of the room. How about some Tole decorations? ;)
