1073.020 Pump Issues

Hi Tunze,
I bought a Tunze Recirculation Pump/Powerhead Silence 1073.020 from Marine Depot on 07/18/2011 and I've been having issues with it. First time was about two months ago when I turned the pump off to do some work in my sump but when I turned the GFCI back on it wouldn't restart. So I took the pump out cleaned it up and tried it in a different power outlet in the house, and it turned back on just fine. So I put it back into the sump and tried turning the GFCI on/off to make sure it would restart in the event of a power failure. It did just fine until last night. We had a power outage last night and the pump did not turn back on when the power came back on. Luckily I was home and swapped out a backup pump in about 5 minutes. This time I tried plugging the pump into different outlets to make sure the one it was originally in didn't have a fault. This was plugged into a GFCI and everything else that it supplies power to works perfect. I do have the original receipt when I purchased this pump. I think it is a well made pump but I think I got unlucky and received a bad one. Can you help me out?
Thanks,
Steve

Make sure that the bushings shown here are not stuck to the drive unit by calcium build up the drive unit must spin easily in these bushings and they should be seated in there respective sockets on the impeller cover and back of the pump. If the impeller is binding on these, the motor will draw more current and can potentially overheat, either of these will trip a GFCI. If these bushings are stuck, simply seperating them and getting them clean will likely solve the problem, they are ceramic so you shouldn't use excessive force. Soak them in vinegar if stuck, overnight, then try to pull them off with a gentle pressure and a twisting motion.

The impeller moves freely, still will not turn on when plugged in (to any outlet regardless of GFCI), the pump never tripped the GFCI at any point in time.
