Can I purchase the part that controls the flow linked between the pump and the power supply.
It has always had a short in it and wiggling it around or tapping on it has always got it working again.
It still might, but it's now needing more like a hammer. Ok not so much but you get the idea...

A short is unlikely, bad contact is most likely the issue. Is this a newer one with the built in 7090 controller or the old black box connector? On the old connector the pin in the power socket has a split in it, with a very small slotted screwdriver like you might use for eyeglass repair, spread the split slightly so it will have better contact, sometimes the socket has slipped back in the box if the box has popped open. In that case line it back up and bend out the tabs on the black box gently so they lock in more firmly.
