Looking good

Well crap. Hmmm....well if worse comes to worse.....it will give me an excuse to get a Par 38.

Yes, I got nanotuners par38 and lamp is great

Little update.

I placed a zoa frag in the tank last night to see if the lights would stimulate it. Opened up nicely and the colors look pretty good. Might go pic up a picasso tonight to place in the tank. As of right now, only planning on putting one fish in the tank.

Still chewing over the idea of a Par 38 for the tank instead of setup I have now. Also, plan on ordering a RKL to control the lights and heat for now.

I'd leave the zoa frag in there for a while and see if it starts to stretch. If it does, you need more light. If not you're in the clear for a while...well, more or less. If the lights don't work, a single PAR 38 with wide optics will get you started, but you may find an upgrade to two in the future on your to do list due to the spot light effect from the light. I've never used one, but that's what I gathered in my research on them.

Will do. Im not really happy with the brightness of the lights so I will probably be upgrading, even if the lights work out. Do you really think I would need two of them if I got one with 80 degree optics?

Hi Josh,
I have 60 degree optics. 2 white and 3 royal blue(20K version). My tank is 18x18x18 cube.

Color is great, but You may have problems to cover Your tank from side to side.

NEED? no, not really. May you want two? Maybe, because of the coverage issues Roman mentioned. The PAR 38 isn't intended to be a wide angle flood light. It's supposed to be a spot light for highlighting certain areas of a tank or to be used in small footprint tanks. 80* optics would probably almost do it for a 10g. Worst case, you have a well lit center, set your scape around that, and have dim edges. If it was my project, I'd start with one and add a second later on if i needed it. It would be a want issue, not a need.

Thanks Cody. We shall see I guess.

if you go with the par38 and are looking to dump the current fixture/hood, i'd like to take it off your hands. my 10g quarantine seems to be turning into another nano with rock an a few softies. i'm sure this would do better than that single bulb strip over it now.

that's a good looking picasso. the lighting you have brings out her colors nicely. tank is coming along quickly and lookig good!

Congrats on the engagement!

I had a neat 10gal set up a couple of years ago. My girls decided to help mommy while I was at work and ddumped a ton of chemicals in it and it killed everything :(
I'm probably going to start over with a 5 gal now
