10g nano questions

I think im going to go with a 10g nano FOWLR instead of a 55g for my first step into saltwater. Would you recomend crushed coral or sand? I will get 10+ lbs of lr. I have a big powerhead thats rated for 75g and another one thats rated for 30g, which one should I use? I don't plan on any types of corals any time soon so It will have regular lighting. As for evaporation do I just top off when needed by measuring the salinity? These are all the questions I have right now im sure I will have more to come. Then for livestock this is what I had in mind:
-1 or 2 clown fish
-1 hi fin red banded goby
-1 cleaner shrimp
-1 pistol shrimp
and what would you reccomnd for a clean up crew

thanks,
steve

I would avoid crushed coral, sand would be best, probally 10lbs. 10-15lbs of live rock would be best. As for the powerhead, we really need to know what "gallon per hour" (GPH) it does, for a FOWLR you just need enought to keep waste and gunk from settling plus keep the water well oxygenated, so i would do about 200GPH. You can top off the water with freshwater, ro/di is best and you can buy it by the gallon at most LFS. You would probally need to do a 20% water changed once a week and be sure to buy a test kit. There are alot more things also, do you plan on getting a sump/refugium or a skimmer? that would help alot.

I have an aquaclear mini, is this big enough for a refugium? If so how do I make it into a refugium? Also how does my stocking list sound?

thanks for the help,
steve

If by 75g you mean gph (gallons per hour) use both. The AC mini is all but worthless on anything over two gallons imo. Check the DIY sticky on the top of the forum for a better alternative.

I'd recommend you get a good book before buying anything else.

We have a ten gallon and for our clean up crew we have 2 turbo snails 2 red leg hermits and 3 blue leg hermits and quite a few necarius snails also...
