Well, due to temp move to apartment, i setup 10g Nano instead of bigger tank that i was planning. This is what i have, i am planning to keep it simple (hopefully)

• Equipments
o 10G 20 x 12 x 12 Tank
o 2 x 20W 6500K LOA Screw in bulbs
o 50 Watt Heater
o Top Fin 10 HOB Power Filter
o 2 Maxi jets 400 Power heads

Around 10lb of LR and 10 lb of base rock.

It's going to be softy and LPS setup, depending upon how this lighting work on this tank. It's cycling right now. It's going to be sumpless and skimmerless and planning to do 20% water change/week with gravel vac.

I am planning to keep following fish (will add slowly)
Pair of nemos ;)
Yellow tail damsel
Royal Gramma

Few questions:
When is the next fragswap? I missed the last one. Also does anybody else other then LFS has generally frags available for sale in Huntsville area?

I have a few soft corals I can share with you. I have some xenia, Neon green star polyps and brown star polyps with neon green center, Toad stool leather and spaghetti finger leather 2 different colors. You can have these, maybe at our next meeting I can bring them. When I first started everyone was so nice to share with me I just want to pass it on. I all so have some button polyps too. Just let me know if you would want any or all of the above.

Mary, Thanks for your offer. I will definately take it all. Please save them for me. Next meeting sounds good.

I think your bio load is going to be too much for a 10G reef tank. 20lbs of rocks in a 10G tank is going to leave very little room for your fish to swim around. I am afraid that the fish will be fighting all the time.

As for lighting, I'd consider a 50/50 55W PC with a decent reflector if you are going for softies and LPS. Power compact lamps are a lot brighter than LOA 20W screw in bulbs. I use one of those for my fuge.

Have you consider sticking a tiny skimmer like a Sander's Piccolo (German made) into a HOB filter? Many nano reefers do this. Of course you can do without a skimmer or a HOB filter if you do a 10% weekly water change.

As for the powerheads, I recommend using two Micro Jet 450's (set perpendicular to each other) instead of one Maxi Jet 400.

A nano reef tank is a bit more challenging than a big reef in some ways.

I agree with Tomoko that your bioload will be too high, especially if you run skimmerless. I kept a 10g nano for a couple of years. I believe that with the size of the fish you're considering, you won't want more than two in there. Personally, I'd go with the pair of clowns, or one clown and either the gramma or YT. A YT and a gramma in a tank that size will probably fight a lot.
The amount of LR you put in there depends somewhat on the look you're going for, but 20lbs is surely a lot for a 10g.

Good suggetions guys. I think i will cut back on rock so fish will have enough room to swim. I think i will stick with two fish. I am getting two maxijets 400 to put at each back corners.

It depends on the density of your rock. If it's dense and you can arrange it so water can flow through/around it, and the fish have room, you'll be fine. Typically, 15 pounds or so would go in a 10 gallon tank. 2 fish sounds good....
