10k? 12k? Reeflux brand...Thoughts???

I ordered a Reeflux bulb online because a friend of mine swore by them...he said that the 10ks looked like other brands' 14ks....So...I got it and it really did look like a 14K next to my really bright Ushio 10K....so I kept these 250 watt DE halides next to each other for a couple of months and didn't really notice a significant difference in growth....at first I wasnt too sure about the Reeflux, because it didn't come with the Reeflux box...and it was awful blue for a 10K light..but I really started to like it...so I order another Reeflux 10k and it looks almost exactly like my Ushio 10K...if not worse...someone didn't sell me a true Reeflux...this one had the Reeflux box,..but still no stamp on the bulb....How can you tell......ANY RECCOMENDATIONS??? HELP!!

Hi,
I have just received a Reeflux 12k 250w double-ender.
It has come in a Reeflux box but is stamped on the bulb as Venture MH DE250/12K.
Are Venture and Reeflux the same thing ?

I've run both the DE 10K and DE 12K on HQI ballasts. I found the 10K to burn very yellow. I had to swap them out for the 12K's which burned blue at first and then burned in white.

Wow..I didn't see either one withe the word "Venture" on it.
I think there are a lot of bulb scams out there.....I think I am going to go with a Reeflux 12k......the 14k was too blue and the 10K was too yellow...so....I know a lot of people who are convinced that the 12k's are a perfect middle for looks and growth. Thanks for the feedback.

I am using the Reeflux 12K and loving it right now. I have a Phoenix 14k and always thought it was still too blue to my liking even with T-5's to balance it out a little bit.

I emailed David at CoralVue. Very impressed with his customer service,got back to me very quickly indeed. This was his reply:

Hello Anthony,

Yes, it a RL bulb. We just had to purchase the glass sleeves from Venture for one of our production runs. The glass has nothing to do with the inner working of the lamp and light output. Hope you enjoy it.

I understand that color is subjective but how would you describe the color?

^^ that's true with any bulb.

I run my SE 12kK on an electronc ballast, they're a nice white color with a hint of blue. I'm not willing to give any wording on growth or output of the bulbs since 1) I don't have a quantum flux meter and 2) at $60-100 per bulb I can't buy a bunch and test them to see how they work.

I wish Sanjay would post some spectral & PFFD numbers for these bulbs already, unless the "CoralVue" is the same as the reeflux bulbs, but I thought those were two separate lines.

If anyone really wants to see what their tank will look like with the ReefLux 12K go to my gallery. I have stated before and I will always say that these are the best bulbs on the market. The company that sells them is not very big and does not seem to have a big marketing budget like I see with these other companies that sells bulbs. I have tried them all and I really think there is something special about these lamps. If anyone wants to see my tank they are welcome to stop by my place in Chicago.
