I've got a few quick questions. I've got a 35g system that has been set up for about a year. I'm moving it into a 110 I just bought. I got 125 lb (this is the proper way to denote pounds, never lbs, just FYI) used sand from a friend. I've rinsed it very well with the hose, then with ro/di. Now it is sitting in a brute with saltwater and a power head. I understand this sand is dead! I tested the water fully. There is ammonia and very low amount of phosphate(~0.16) to be specific.

I plan to move this sand into the new tank, a few scoops of the sand in the current tank will go in as well. Then the ~70 lb dry base rock and about 65 lb of the very seeded live rock from the current tank.

When I cycle this tank, will the ammonia in the sand be absorbed mostly by the good live rock? Or will I need to ghost feed the tank to kickstart the cycle?

To answer the question I asked if anyone is looking. I mixed the 60 lb live rock and about 60lb base rock with the sand and about half a small bottle of seed. I had aa super short cycle and fish and corals in within 3 days, no losses or casualties.
