110v/240v Stream Power Supply

I want to get a TS24 kit for my 8 x 2 x 2 reef tank but the price from the local supplier of $A1,400 is far too high. I will try and buy one from Marine Depot or similar. I need it in 240v and not 110v.

I was wondering what the power supply system was for these pumps was. I have read that they use a DC transformer. If this is the case, I can just swap out the DC transformer for a 240v xx volt DC transformer. Would this be right??

The transformer is a difficult to find torroidal AC transformer with two hot poles and two safety switches integrated, I think Tunze is the only company with such a transformer. Further, because of the difference in Hz the US version has a lower voltage since the 60hz waveform conveys more power and this would create further complications. I cannot recommend doing this and your warranty would be void if you changed or modified the product. US dealers can only get 115V product just as dealers in 230V countries can only get 230V product. Given the great distance from Germany I would reasonably expect Australian prices to be slightly higher, even with just the current exchange rate the price would be about $1200. I think your best bet is to shop around in your domestic market and you will likely find that if you have a good relationship with a dealer and need to purchase other goods you can negotiate a better price.
