I'm using an overflow box. You guessed it right, my return is facing the tanks bottom but its being defeclted by just 2 layers of LR which I think is not adequate. My LR is about 132 pounds which I think is adequate for now as I'm slowly buying additional LR. As for mechanical filter, I have none. Mine simply goes to my three chambered sump which houses my skimmer , refugium (empty for now) and the return.
First thing I'll do tomorrow is to bend the return pipe and see whats happens. I'll keep you guys updated if it helps.
