now keep in mind that my budget has to be under $50, but i want to find out if i can get anything more thatn the CF that i want for my nano. I have never seen it, but are therea ny T-5's that would fit my 16" tank, or halides that are smaller that would count as "strong lighting" for my tank so that i could get any coral....

possible... yes, im sure. But for under $50 you can barely even get a bulb for a mh system, let alone the ballast, and other goodies to retrofit it over a 5.

speaking of retrofitting...... is there a way to pack more than 24W outta a PC retrofit that is only 16" long? and i have no-where to hang it from... and under $50 again?

DO you any of you guys knowhow to retrofit? have some of the things needed to make a RF? WOuld like to help me out?

I have a new in the box PC retro kit for a standard tank.
I don't remember the size - but I think it was for my 20gal seahorse tank.
If memory serves it's a brite light kit from AH Supply.
I'll check when I get home from work.
If it will fit you can have it cheap......

Can i HAVE hard corals with only PC lighting? i mena, if Fuzzy finds a PC Retrofit for a 20 gal, that should be enough, right?

That 36 W would be PERFECT. BUt the 55 would be great too, it would just be a little larger than the tank, but i could work with it, justlet me know, maybe we can work out a trade.

i mean ,i can buy it too, but trading for equipment or stuff would be cool too ...... i dont have too much, i have ALOT of air pumps, tubing, tank decorations, small little 2,3 gallon acrylic tanks for like small fish or whatever, i have about 5 pounds of Live and Base rock rubble and peices, that is about it, but i would be willing to work something out, anything, just let me know, i mena, we dont even knwo fi you have it still, so , we cant plan anything...but just to let you know

So, I just got home - really long day......
And it is the AH Supply Bright Lite Kit with a 55 watt 10000K bulb.
Still new in the box - been sitting on the shelf for 2 moves now - so I have no need for it.
I have more fish stuff than I will ever need - so there's really not much to trade.
How does $25 sound??

Let me know if it will work for you.

Thanks,

Fuzz

I think that will work, off the top of your head, do you know how i could get this over my tank, when i cant hang it, or anything? i mean, my tank is only 16" long, and that light is way longer, so i cant just put it over it...hmmm.......... $25 is good, would you be interested in some Green Polyps? I have a frag with about 10 of them on it

This is a retro kit that is designed to replace the normal tube in a perfecto style hood. There are instructions how to make a enclosure - I think AH supply even has a kit that was pretty cheap.
We recently set up our 150, so it's in need of more corals - I think some green polyps could work........

SO...... what yoursaying is that it is meant to fit into like a regular flourescent tube light? i have a long light, it is a little bit shorter than the lenght of my 20 gallon long tank. WOuld that work? or if it need to fir into something, would like a wooden frame work? that i woulc possibly hang...idk, i have no knowlege of what retrokits are really.... now i have a sort of an idea

Exactly - this kit is designed to replace the guts from a standard 24"(I think) N.O. hood. The kind that come with the aquariums you get at the pet store...
It has all the wiring and a nice reflector that screws right in with minimal drilling.
The ballast screws on to the back of the hood - they actually sent all the hardware with a instruction sheet that even has useful pictures!!
If you go to the link I posted earlier it has links to the directions as well as the box that they sell.

If that doesnt work - I think I have a 26 or 32 watt clip on PC that I used to have on my old Aquafuge.
We just moved into our new house so the garage is full of rubbermade tubs loaded with all my fish stuff.......

So it is the 36W one? not the 55 or W/e, that is good if it is..... just wanting to knw, and yes, i do wank that light? DO you think i could get it for $20, i now owe my parents $50 for some odd reason and now only have $20 on me, i hope to get more, but i cant garuntee that, but if you really, really want $25 for it, i will either find it, beg for it, or start selling myself on the strets, but i WILL get it too you......lol just let me nkow, and so you are going to the ORCA meeting, if youa re, that would be great, and alot easier for both of us.

It is a 55w kit - and honestly the cash is not a big deal.
If you want it it's yours - $20 will be fine - it's just been taking up space on a shelf in my garage.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it to the meeting this month....
Drop me a PM if you would like to set up a time to take a look at it.
