12 gal nano...what do i need to do?

Procerus (potbellies) are actually one of the largest sized horses, reaching approx 12".

Fuscus would be ideal, but apparently mankind has hunted them off the face of the earth. I had some.....once.....several years ago...lost them to hydroids before I even knew what hydroids were. Have never seen any, or heard of anyone getting any, since.

Abdominalis are pot bellies and are very large seahorses.

Procerus were originally considered a sub-species of whitei and only grow to 4".

So many species, it gets confusing sometimes.

thanks wink-yeah pot bellies=abs!!! think, the scientific name is to describe that they have a big abdomen, otherwise known as a pot-belly (or beer belly if your from my neck of the woods!!!)

common names kinda stink, but-yeah... I ripped this off of the .org and modified it

1) Tropical species - kept at 72-76 degrees F (24-26 degrees C)
zosterae- smallest,; dwarf
kuda, 5-6 inches, 18" tank height; yellow, kuda
barbouri, see kuda (I think?); spiny
erectus, 6-8 inches, 20" tank height; erectus, mustang, giant
reidi 8+inches, 24" tank height; yellow, kuda, reidi
fuscus 4 inches, 12" tank height; fuscus is the only one I know
comes see kuda? (I think); tiger tail
procerus 4 inches, 12" tank height; procerus is the only one I know

2) Subtropical species - kept at 68-72 degrees F (22-25 degrees C)
whitei, 4inches, 12" tank height
ingens 12+ inches, 36" height;giant
tuberculatus (I dunno-but probably 4 inches, 12" tank height)

3) Temperate species - kept at 64-70 degrees F (19-22 degrees C)
abdominalis, 12+ inches, 36 inch tank height;pot bellies
capensis 4 inch, 12" tank height
breviceps,(another I dunno-probably 4" 12 " tank height)

if I'm REALLY off on one, someone correct me!!!!

Vicki - you're totally correct - my apologies.

I would so love to get some temperate species - but not ready to do the chiller thing yet. The Jenks Aquarium has some pots - and babies - they are sooooo cool!

Hi, I am interested in keeping dwarves. I have a freshwater 2 gallon hexagon tank with undergravel filteration that I am thinking about converting. Would this be possible?

there is a way to use a undergravel... do a search for the 35 year old reef... its a reverse undergravel, and he goes into EXTREME detail on how to do it, and is quite willing to help with that.

actually, head over to seahorse.org... they'll get ya set on sponge filters, I bet... but since you have to do lots of water changes anyway...it might work?
